Bournemouth And Chelsea Draw 0-0 As Sanchez Impresses In Premier League Match

In a goalless draw, Bournemouth and Chelsea both extended their winless runs. Robert Sanchez's standout performance helped secure the point for the visitors.

Chelsea missed an opportunity to close the gap on Premier League leaders after Arsenal's defeat to Aston Villa. Despite Robert Sanchez's impressive performance, Chelsea could only manage a goalless draw against Bournemouth. Cole Palmer returned to the squad for the first time since mid-September, but his presence wasn't enough to secure a win. The result leaves Chelsea in fourth place, eight points behind the top.

Bournemouth thought they had taken an early lead when Antoine Semenyo scored from Alex Scott's cross. However, VAR ruled Evanilson offside in the build-up, disallowing the goal. Throughout the first half, Sanchez was kept busy by efforts from Semenyo and Scott. After halftime, Chelsea improved with Alejandro Garnacho hitting the post and Enzo Fernandez testing Djordje Petrovic.

Sanchez Impresses in Bournemouth vs Chelsea Draw

Sanchez continued to be crucial for Chelsea, denying another attempt from Semenyo late in the game. Despite their efforts, neither team could find a breakthrough. Andoni Iraola's frustration grew as Bournemouth extended their winless streak in the league to six matches. The match ended without a decisive winner.

Bournemouth's struggle in front of goal persisted as they failed to score in consecutive league games under Iraola for the third time. They had 13 attempts worth 1.37 expected goals but couldn't convert any into goals. This was their most shots without scoring at home since February against Liverpool.

Chelsea's run of scoring in 13 consecutive Premier League matches came to an end with this draw. Their 11 shots resulted in an xG of 0.88, marking their lowest away tally this season without a red card incident. However, Enzo Maresca can take solace in achieving a fourth clean sheet in five away games.

The visitors' defensive solidity is notable as they have now secured more shutouts than in their previous 19 away league matches combined. This defensive improvement might provide some comfort despite their inability to capitalise on Arsenal's slip-up.

Both teams will need to address their attacking inefficiencies moving forward if they hope to improve their standings and results in upcoming fixtures.
