Bournemouth's Andoni Iraola Expects Challenging Away Game Against Brentford In Premier League

Andoni Iraola of Bournemouth anticipates a difficult away match against Brentford. Despite recent successes, he stresses the need for continued improvement and highlights key players like Antoine Semenyo.

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola anticipates a challenging match against Brentford on Saturday. Despite recent successes, including a win over Manchester City and Arsenal, Iraola remains cautious. "I'm not going to lie, we didn't expect seven points," he told the Bournemouth Echo. He emphasised the need for recovery and preparation for the upcoming game at Brentford, acknowledging the difficulty of playing away in the Premier League.

Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo has been impressive this season, scoring in all five home league appearances. With eight goals, he is tied for second in the Premier League top scorer standings. Meanwhile, Bournemouth's Antoine Semenyo has also been in form, scoring his fourth goal of the season against Manchester City. Semenyo leads his team in goals and ranks second in shots taken across the league.

Iraola Prepares for Tough Match at Brentford

Iraola praised Semenyo's performance this season, noting his potential to be a constant threat to defenders. "He has been playing very well all the season," Iraola stated. The manager expects another strong performance from him at Brentford's Gtech Community Stadium.

Brentford have excelled at home this season, winning four out of five matches and drawing one. They share the top spot for home points with Manchester City and have scored as many home goals as Tottenham. This poses a challenge for Bournemouth, who have struggled defensively with only one clean sheet in their league games so far.

Bournemouth's away form has been inconsistent, with their only victory coming against Everton in August. Historically, they have found it difficult to win at Brentford, with their last away league victory dating back to October 2005 when both teams were in League One.

Match Prediction

The odds favour Brentford with a 44.1% chance of winning according to Opta's prediction model. A draw stands at 26.8%, while Bournemouth have a 29% chance of securing a win. Brentford remain unbeaten in their last seven encounters with Bournemouth since August 2014.

Iraola remains grounded despite recent victories over top teams like Manchester City and Arsenal. He stresses that winning any Premier League game requires consistent effort and focus. "You have to do a lot of things well," he said, highlighting the importance of building on current momentum without losing focus.
