Bournemouth's recent 1-0 victory over Everton has brought them within three points of the Champions League spots. David Brooks, who scored the decisive goal, emphasised the need for Bournemouth to remain grounded. This win extended their unbeaten streak in the Premier League to a club-record eight games. Brooks has scored twice this season as a substitute, marking his second campaign with multiple goals since 2018-19.
Despite their impressive form, Bournemouth's chances of finishing in the top four are slim, with Opta's supercomputer giving them just a 3.6% probability. Brooks urged caution and focus, stating, "We have to just keep our feet on the ground and keep plugging away game by game." He acknowledged that matches against teams like Everton are physically demanding and require quality to secure wins.

Andoni Iraola, Bournemouth's manager, shared Brooks' sentiments and expressed satisfaction with their current performances. He noted that their upcoming fixtures include four matches against top-five teams. Iraola is hopeful that his team can maintain their competitive edge in these challenging games. "I don't know if it is enough to beat these teams, but we will try to be competitive," he said.
Bournemouth's home form has been strong this season, earning 18 points from 10 matches at Vitality Stadium. Only Chelsea and Brighton have managed victories there. Brooks highlighted the team's confidence at home: "Nobody really likes coming to play us here and, every home game, we go into it thinking we can win."
On the other hand, Everton's struggles persist as they failed to register a shot on target against Bournemouth. Their winless run has now stretched to five matches under Sean Dyche's management. The Toffees have failed to score in 11 league games this season, just one short of last season's total.
Abdoulaye Doucoure acknowledged Everton's issues upfront: "Goals give you wins and, at the moment, we can't find a way to score goals." He described their performance as difficult and stressed the importance of learning from these setbacks. Doucoure added that small moments often decide matches in the Premier League.
The midfielder also reflected on their efforts during the match: "The first half was not good enough from us... We tried in the second half to correct that." Despite their attempts to improve after halftime, they conceded at a crucial time when a draw seemed likely.
As both teams look ahead, Bournemouth aims to continue their positive momentum while Everton seeks solutions to end their scoring drought and improve results.
