Evanilson Joins Bournemouth In A Landmark Club-Record Transfer

Bournemouth has confirmed the signing of forward Evanilson from Porto for a club-record fee of up to £40.2 million. The Brazilian striker, who scored 25 goals last season including Champions League goals, is seen as a significant addition to match the club's ambitions.

Bournemouth have announced the acquisition of Evanilson from Porto for a club-record fee. The forward's transfer is valued at up to £40.2 million. He joined Porto in 2020, making 154 appearances across all competitions, scoring 60 goals and providing 21 assists.

Last season, Evanilson was Porto's top scorer in the league with 13 goals. He also had the second-highest number of shots in the Primeira Liga, totalling 76 attempts. His performance has been instrumental for Porto over the past few seasons.

Evanilson's Record Move to Bournemouth

Neill Blake, Bournemouth's chief executive, expressed his excitement about the signing: "We are delighted to bring someone with an immense pedigree to AFC Bournemouth," he said. "Evanilson is a hugely sought-after striker and for us to bring him to the club in a record-breaking deal shows our ambition and intent."

Blake further highlighted Evanilson's impressive record: "Having scored 25 goals last season, including goals in the Champions League, we feel that his experience and ability, despite only being 24, will help us to match our ambitions moving forward." This statement underscores Bournemouth's strategic vision for their future.

Bournemouth had also considered Arsenal's Eddie Nketiah but ultimately chose Evanilson to fill the void left by Dominic Solanke. Solanke was sold to Tottenham for a club-record fee of £65 million. This decision reflects Bournemouth’s focus on strengthening their squad with proven talent.

Evanilson becomes Bournemouth’s seventh signing this season under manager Andoni Iraola. The team is set to begin their Premier League campaign against Nottingham Forest on Saturday. This addition aims to bolster their attacking options significantly.

The official announcement was made via Bournemouth’s social media channels: "In a record-breaking deal, we bring striker Evanilson to #afcb LET'S GOOOO," tweeted AFC Bournemouth (@afcbournemouth) on August 16, 2024.

This high-profile signing demonstrates Bournemouth’s commitment to competing at higher levels in the Premier League. Fans eagerly await seeing how Evanilson will integrate into the team and contribute to their success this season.
