Julian Araujo has officially joined Bournemouth from Barcelona, as confirmed by the Cherries on Tuesday. The 23-year-old right-back, who spent last season on loan at Las Palmas in La Liga, signed a five-year contract for an undisclosed fee.
Araujo did not make any senior appearances for Barcelona after transferring from LA Galaxy last year. However, he had previously played 98 matches in Major League Soccer (MLS). Since his debut in 2021, he has earned 13 caps for Mexico but missed this year's Copa America due to a hamstring injury.

During his time at Las Palmas, Araujo missed 13 games due to injuries or suspensions. His absence was felt as the team won only three games without him and scored more goals (18) when he played. His performance as a right-back was notable.
Araujo is Bournemouth's fifth senior signing this summer, joining Dean Huijsen, Luis Sinisterra, Enes Unal, and Alex Paulsen on the south coast. Chief Executive Neill Blake expressed excitement about the transfer: "Julian is someone who we have tracked for a while now and were delighted to bring him to AFC Bournemouth."
Blake added that Araujo is a young player with high potential and that the club is pleased to have secured his signature amid significant competition. "We believe that we have all the tools here for Julian to build on the quality he already has and we really look forward to welcoming him to Vitality Stadium," Blake said.
Araujo will provide manager Andoni Iraola with another attacking full-back option alongside Max Aarons. Last season at Las Palmas, Araujo made 11 successful crosses, only surpassed by Sergi Cardona (16) and Sandro Ramirez (24) within the team.
The addition of Araujo is expected to bolster Bournemouth’s defensive and offensive capabilities. His experience in both MLS and La Liga will be invaluable as the Cherries aim for a strong performance in the upcoming season.
Araujo's versatility and skill set make him a strategic acquisition for Bournemouth as they continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the new campaign.
