Brazil Qualify for World Cup 2026 as Real Madrid star scores in crucial win against Paraguay

By MyKhel Staff

Brazil have officially sealed their place at the World Cup 2026 with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Paraguay in the South American qualifiers.

Vinícius Júnior's first-half strike was enough to confirm qualification, as Carlo Ancelotti's side delivered a composed and confident performance in a game where the result mattered most.

Brazil

It was not a dominant attacking display, but Brazil were in control for large parts of the match. They moved the ball with intent, kept possession calmly under pressure, and created enough chances to put Paraguay on the back foot. The breakthrough came after a clever move on the right, with Matheus Cunha beating his marker and delivering a sharp low cross. Vinícius arrived at the perfect moment and guided the ball home with a precise finish.

From there, Brazil managed the game well. Paraguay, known for their defensive discipline, struggled to build attacks and were largely kept at bay by Brazil's well-organized backline. The home side rarely looked like conceding, maintaining their strong defensive record in this campaign.

Qualification was expected, but the calm and mature nature of the performance will satisfy Ancelotti, who continues to shape this Brazilian side in his image. This was a team effort - Bruno Guimarães controlled the midfield, the wingers stretched the game intelligently, and the defense stayed focused throughout.

With this win, Brazil extended their unbeaten run in the qualifiers and became one of the first South American teams to confirm their place in the expanded 48-team tournament. Along with the Selecao, Argentina and Ecuador have also booked their berths.

For Paraguay, the defeat ends a strong run of results and puts their qualification hopes under some strain. They are still guaranteed for a playoff spot at least, and a point more in the last two matches will confirm their qualification.
