Who Could Ancelotti Pick?

Ancelotti's selection is expected to combine established names such as Vinicius Jr, Raphinha, Bruno Guimaraes, Gabriel Magalhaes, Marquinhos and Alisson with younger players pushing for places. Chelsea's Estevao, Real Madrid forward Endrick, and midfield prospects such as Andrey Santos and Breno Bidon are among the names attracting attention. Reports also suggest Ancelotti could look at players from the Brazilian league, including Hugo Souza, Matheuzinho and Gabriel Bontempo.

The emphasis is expected to be on renewal. Neymar, Casemiro and several other experienced players are reportedly unlikely to feature, while Ancelotti looks to build a squad capable of developing over the next four years.

Ancelotti arrived with an extraordinary club résumé, having won a record five Champions League titles and becoming the only coach to win all five of Europe's major domestic leagues. He also became the first foreign coach to lead Brazil's men's team in a century.

Brazil's World Cup campaign ended in disappointment. They reached the last 16 but suffered a 2-1 defeat to Norway, their earliest World Cup exit since 1990. The result has intensified the need for renewal and makes this upcoming series particularly important for Ancelotti as he starts building Brazil's next generation.
