Brendan Rodgers has expressed a philosophical outlook regarding Celtic's transfer activities amid a slow window. Despite limited squad changes, Celtic have started their Scottish Premiership title defence strongly, securing victories against St. Mirren and Aberdeen without conceding. Kieran Tierney and Ross Doohan joined as free agents, but no major signings have been made yet.
Rodgers remains hopeful about strengthening the team before their Champions League play-off against Kazakhstan's Kairat on August 20. He stated, "Hopefully [we will have new players before the Champions League]. We have right up until the day before the game to change our squad. Hopefully, that can be the case."

Celtic are also preparing for their Scottish League Cup title defence against Falkirk on Friday. Rodgers acknowledged the club's tendency to finalise transfers late in the window, saying, "The club has always notoriously done business towards the end of the window." He emphasised the importance of being prepared but noted that their strong start has been overshadowed by transfer concerns.
Despite transfer speculations, Rodgers is confident in his team's performances so far. "What's gone unnoticed is we've made a really good start," he said. "Two really good wins, played well, and I know we'll get better." He believes that negative discussions about transfers have clouded these achievements.
Amidst rumours about potential departures, Daizen Maeda's future has been a topic of discussion. The Japanese international was instrumental last season with 16 goals and a league-high 10 assists. Although he hasn't scored this season yet, he has already contributed an assist from four chances created.
Rodgers is optimistic about retaining Maeda and hinted at ongoing contract talks despite two years remaining on his current deal. He commented, "Yeah, yeah, yeah, fairly confident [he will stay], as can be." However, he admitted there are no updates or developments to share at this time.
Celtic's focus remains on maintaining their strong start while navigating transfer challenges. With key matches approaching and potential squad enhancements on the horizon, Rodgers aims to build on early successes and address any gaps in the team.
