Thomas Frank is optimistic that Ivan Toney will stay with Brentford when the transfer window closes next month. Toney, who has netted 72 goals in 141 matches for the Bees, is nearing the end of his contract and has been linked to a move away. The England international has expressed a desire to join a top Premier League club, but no transfer has occurred yet.
Frank, preparing for his sixth season at Brentford, expects Toney to remain part of the team for the 2024-25 season. "There has been a lot of talk about Ivan for many years, but let's just say over the last six months about whether he will leave this summer," Frank told Sky Sports. "So far, he is still a Brentford player, so I think we are getting closer and closer to him remaining a Brentford player."

Toney was previously linked with Tottenham Hotspur, who have since signed Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth. Arsenal also showed interest in Toney. Despite these links, Frank remains hopeful that Toney will stay. "I am getting more and more excited because he is a top player and I love working with Ivan - we have a fantastic relationship," Frank added.
If Toney stays at Gtech Community Stadium, it would provide Frank with a strong base to improve on their 16th-place finish last season. Despite missing much of the campaign due to an eight-month ban for breaching FA betting rules, Toney's presence could boost their performance.
Last season, even without Toney for much of it, Brentford scored 56 league goals, placing them 11th in terms of goals scored. With new additions like Liverpool's Fabio Carvalho joining Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa, Frank is confident that they can improve their goal tally with Toney back in action.
"That is what I think; he will be a Brentford player after the first of September," Frank concluded. His optimism reflects his belief in Toney's importance to the team and their future success.
