Fabian Hurzeler expressed that setbacks are inevitable for Brighton. The German coach was pleased with his team's regained confidence after their comeback win against Tottenham. Brighton struggled in the first half at the Amex Stadium, trailing 2-0 due to goals from Brennan Johnson and James Maddison. However, Yankuba Minteh's goal after the break sparked hope for the home side.
Georginio Rutter quickly followed Minteh's strike with a goal of his own. Rutter then played a crucial role in the winning goal, as his deflected cross reached Danny Welbeck. This 3-2 victory ended a four-game winless streak for Brighton, easing some pressure on Hurzeler. "In the process, it is normal to have bad performances," Hurzeler told Sky Sports.

Hurzeler emphasised focusing on quality and learning from mistakes. "You have to focus on your own quality and that is what I said to the team: focus on the process," he stated. He acknowledged that confidence had been lacking recently but stressed the importance of being ruthless in duels to gain self-confidence.
Rutter has now scored in consecutive Premier League matches, having also netted against Chelsea. His recent form contrasts with his earlier struggles, where he failed to score in his first 15 league appearances with Leeds and Brighton. Despite his individual success, Rutter highlighted teamwork over tactics as key to their comeback.
"We are happy and stayed together like the coach said 'we have to believe'. That is what we do," Rutter explained. At half-time, the focus was on fighting spirit rather than tactical adjustments. This collective effort earned them three points and boosted morale within the team.
Danny Welbeck scored his 27th Premier League goal for Brighton, marking only his second match-winning goal for the club since September 2021 against Leicester City. Welbeck could have added another goal in the first half from Kauro Mitoma's cross but shared similar sentiments about their disappointing start.
"In the first half we were bitterly disappointed and frustrated," Welbeck admitted. The performance was not up to their standards, but they showed resilience by fighting back in the second half. He credited senior players like Jason Steele and James Milner for motivating them to fight harder.
The victory demonstrated Brighton's determination to challenge established teams, aligning with management's vision for growth and competitiveness in future matches.
