Fabian Hurzeler expressed satisfaction with Brighton's narrow 2-1 victory over Bournemouth, which bolstered their European ambitions while hindering Bournemouth's. Joao Pedro put Brighton ahead in the first half with a penalty after being fouled by Kepa Arrizabalaga. Despite Justin Kluivert equalising for Bournemouth with a remarkable goal, Danny Welbeck secured the win for Brighton shortly after coming on as a substitute.
Hurzeler was thrilled with Brighton's performance, marking their third consecutive Premier League win since September 2023. He acknowledged their good fortune in the match, describing it as intense and competitive. "It was a very intense game, both teams tried to score and tried to win," he told BBC Sport. "The second half was an open game and in the end we were a lucky winner."

Welbeck's contribution was pivotal, as his goal marked his 30th in the Premier League for Brighton, equalling Pascal Gross's club record. Hurzeler praised Welbeck's leadership and influence on younger players, stating, "The most important thing for me is he is there as a leader and so important for the young players. He does the right things and he got what he deserved today."
Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola remained positive despite their second consecutive league defeat following a loss to Wolves. He commended his team's effort but acknowledged Brighton's superior finishing. "I'm quite pleased with the performance but Brighton were much better with scoring and Danny Welbeck had a great finish," Iraola told TNT Sports.
Iraola noted that Bournemouth had opportunities but failed to capitalise on them. He admitted they should have defended better against Brighton's second goal. "We thought we played good enough to get the points but we were not as good as Brighton in the boxes and they were much better at getting goals," he added.
Brighton have now won four consecutive matches across all competitions since suffering a heavy 7-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest. Hurzeler credited his team for their resilience and ability to bounce back from that loss. "We reflected on the Nottingham Forest game and we were honest and took responsibility for the loss and tried to get back to the basics so credit to the players and we're really happy with this reaction," he said.
