Brighton have announced the acquisition of Georginio Rutter from Leeds United for a record fee. The Seagulls triggered his £40 million release clause, securing the forward on a five-year deal with the Premier League club.
Rutter joined Leeds in January 2023 and made 66 appearances across all competitions, scoring eight goals. Six of these goals came in the Championship last season. He also had the second-highest number of shots in the team (122), trailing only Crysencio Summerville.

Additionally, Rutter provided 15 assists last season, the highest among Leeds players. Only Leif Davies had more assists in the Championship.
Rutter is Brighton's seventh signing under manager Fabian Hurzeler. He joins Yankuba Minteh, Mats Wieffer, Amario Cozier-Duberry, Malick Yalcouye, Brajan Gruda, and Ibrahim Osman in the squad.
Fabian Hurzeler expressed his excitement about Rutter's arrival: "Georginio is a player who has the capabilities to get fans off their seats and really showed what he can do in English football with Leeds last season but I have known about him since he played in Germany for Hoffenheim. Now we have to integrate him into the team. We're looking forward to working with him."
The club shared their enthusiasm on social media with a post stating: "It was worth the wait. Georginio is a Seagull!"
Brighton fans are eager to see how Rutter will fit into their team and contribute to their upcoming Premier League campaign.
