Bromley Causes Upset By Knocking Out Ipswich On Penalties; Wrexham Stages Late Comeback Against Hull City

In the EFL Cup first round, Bromley upset Ipswich on penalties after a 1-1 draw, while Wrexham came back to defeat Hull City. Both teams showcased resilience and skill.

League Two's Bromley pulled off a surprise by eliminating Ipswich from the EFL Cup in the first round. In another thrilling encounter, Wrexham staged a remarkable comeback against Hull City. Ollie Palmer scored twice in added time to level at 3-3 before Wrexham triumphed on penalties. Elliot Lee initially put Wrexham ahead, but Oliver McBurnie equalised for Hull before half-time.

The visitors seemed set for victory when Joel Ndala and Matt Crooks extended their lead. However, Palmer's late goals forced penalties where Wrexham excelled with perfect execution from James McClean, Lee, Josh Windass, Palmer, and Jack Marriott.

Elsewhere in League One action, Doncaster Rovers and Bradford City defeated Championship sides Middlesbrough and Blackburn respectively. Derby County also made headlines by equalising in the 96th minute against West Brom and winning 3-2 on penalties.

Ipswich's Missed Opportunities

Ipswich will rue missed chances as they recorded an expected goals (xG) tally of 1.52 compared to Bromley's 1.04. Despite having five shots on target from 18 attempts, they failed to capitalise on their opportunities. Conor Chaplin was unable to score from four shots while Ashley Young's impressive stats did not translate into goals.
