Bruno Fernandes Celebrates Unbelievable Result For Manchester United In Europa League Semi-Final

Bruno Fernandes praised Manchester United's impressive 3-0 win against Athletic Bilbao in the Europa League semi-final first leg. His two goals contributed significantly to the team's success, leaving Bilbao's hopes for the final uncertain.

Manchester United's captain, Bruno Fernandes, expressed his joy following their 3-0 triumph over Athletic Bilbao in the first leg of the Europa League semi-final. Fernandes netted two goals in the first half, helping United secure a strong lead by halftime. Bilbao's Dani Vivian was sent off after conceding a penalty, leaving their chances of reaching the final at home in jeopardy.

"You can never predict a scoreline like that," Fernandes told TNT Sport. "Very tough team, the atmosphere was crazy. I knew they were very passionate, but never knew it was like this." The result was beyond expectations for United. Despite a slower second half, they maintained control and kept possession effectively.

Fernandes Celebrates Victory in Europa League

The Portuguese midfielder's performance on Thursday brought his total goal contributions to 34 this season, with 18 goals and 16 assists. This achievement highlights an outstanding season for Fernandes, who only scored his first goal of the campaign in late October. His impact has been significant for Manchester United.

Reflecting on his contributions, Fernandes said, "I knew I was around the thirties, but I didn't know how much exactly. It is a big part of my game and I need to take that responsibility." He acknowledged the pressure that comes with playing for such a globally recognised club as Manchester United.

Fernandes compared his current club to Sporting Lisbon, stating that while Sporting is significant, United's global reach brings immense attention and pressure. "Unbelievable the attention and pressure we get," he remarked. Despite feeling this pressure, he enjoys it as part of football's allure.

He also shared his perspective on handling pressure: "When I finish my career that will go away and I will be much more relaxed." For now, he embraces the challenges and excitement that come with being at the top level of football.

The victory against Bilbao puts Manchester United in a strong position ahead of the second leg. With Fernandes leading by example, they aim to maintain their momentum and secure a spot in the final.
