Bruno Fernandes acknowledges Manchester United's current struggles, noting the team is not in a favourable phase. He aims to shine for Portugal in the Nations League. Fernandes has not scored in 12 matches for United, marking his longest goalless streak since joining in January 2020. The Red Devils have not won their last five games, with their latest match ending in a scoreless draw against Aston Villa.
United's performance under Erik ten Hag has been underwhelming, with only eight points from seven Premier League games, their lowest tally at this stage since the 1989-90 season. They have failed to score in their last three league matches, matching their worst run without a goal under Ten Hag. Meanwhile, Fernandes is gearing up for Portugal's Nations League game against Poland on Saturday.

Fernandes is eager to maintain Portugal's unbeaten start in Group A1 of the Nations League. Reflecting on his experience, he said, "I will talk about myself personally. It changes a lot because the space is different. This is not a positive moment at Manchester, we are not winning games." He feels more at ease with the national team and believes they can win every game.
The midfielder emphasised the importance of distinguishing between club and national duties while striving to turn negatives into positives. "I try to give my best in all the games I play, regardless of the club or the national team I'm representing," he stated. His commitment remains unwavering whether playing for Manchester United or Portugal.
Fernandes played a key role when Portugal clinched the Nations League title in 2019 by defeating the Netherlands 1-0 in the final. Despite a quarter-final exit to France at Euro 2024, he remains optimistic about replicating past successes with a talented squad. "The first difference is that we haven't reached the final four yet," Fernandes noted.
He highlighted Portugal's strong football history and ambition to win every competition they enter. "This team is hungry to repeat this achievement in 2019 because no Portuguese team enters any competition to not win," he said. Their immediate goal is to secure victory against Poland while respecting their opponents.
The current squad retains many players from their previous triumph but has embraced a younger approach under coach Roberto Martinez. Fernandes believes this blend of experience and youth can lead them to success once again.
