Bruno Fernandes has called on Manchester United to fight back as they aim to revive their season. The United captain secured a late victory against Rangers in the Europa League, ensuring at least a knockout play-off spot and putting them close to automatic qualification for the last 16. However, their Premier League performance is lacking, with United sitting 13th in the table, seven points away from the top half.
United's defence has been problematic, conceding first in eight of their last nine league matches. Since Ruben Amorim's first game on November 24, no team has conceded first more often than United, tied with Southampton. This defensive frailty has contributed to their current struggles in the league.

The Opta supercomputer predicts that United's highest possible finish this season is seventh, though they have only a 0.3% chance of achieving it. Their most likely finishing position is 14th, with a probability of 17.6%. The team has lost six of their last nine Premier League games, winning two and drawing one.
Fernandes emphasised the pressure of playing for Manchester United: "The reality is to play here you have to have that pressure, you have to have the balls to play for this club – that is what it is," he stated. He believes every match offers a new opportunity to reclaim their rightful position.
Reflecting on the team's inconsistent form this season, Fernandes said: "Unfortunately for us this season there have been too many ups and downs and every time we look like getting there, we get punched again and go down." He urged his teammates to rise after setbacks and retaliate effectively.
Following a 3-1 loss to Brighton in the Premier League last weekend, Ruben Amorim controversially claimed they were perhaps the worst team in Manchester United's history. Although he later admitted he should not have made those remarks, his comments sparked discussions.
When asked about Amorim's statements, Fernandes expressed his views: "I don't want to hear my manager saying certain things about the team because I know he doesn't feel it." He acknowledged that Amorim included himself in those comments, making it difficult for anyone to be upset or disappointed by them.
Fernandes acknowledged the team's current standing: "When he says: 'the worst team in Manchester', he speaks about the position we are in and when you look at where we are in the league, we are in the worst position we've ever been." He stressed that accepting this reality is crucial for pushing towards greater achievements and higher standings.
The Red Devils face Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday as they strive to improve their league performance. Despite recent challenges, Fernandes remains determined for Manchester United to regain their stature and achieve better results moving forward.
