Bryan Mbeumo has officially joined Manchester United in a transfer valued at up to £71 million. Last season, Mbeumo was a standout for Brentford, netting 20 goals in the Premier League. Only Mohamed Salah, Alexander Isak, and Erling Haaland scored more. His 27 goal involvements were surpassed only by Isak and Salah in the league.
Manchester United initially had an offer rejected for the Cameroon international earlier in the transfer window. However, they returned with a revised bid last week, reportedly offering £65 million plus an additional £6 million in add-ons. Brentford accepted these terms. Over the weekend, Mbeumo completed his medical examination and signed a five-year contract with an option for an extra year.

Mbeumo is now the third senior signing of the summer under Ruben Amorim's management. He follows Matheus Cunha from Wolves and Diego Leon from Cerro Porteno. "As soon as I knew there was a chance to join Manchester United, I had to take the opportunity to sign for the club of my dreams; the team whose shirt I wore growing up," Mbeumo expressed on the club's official website.
The 25-year-old forward excelled last season by scoring 15 non-penalty goals, surpassing his expected goals (xG) by 7.5. He led Brentford with 166 open-play shot-ending sequences in the league. Among Manchester United players, only Bruno Fernandes had more such involvements last season with 216.
In related news, Marcus Rashford has travelled to Barcelona to finalise a season-long loan deal with LaLiga champions. Reports suggest Rashford will undergo a medical this week to join Hansi Flick's squad for their pre-season tour of Asia.
Jason Wilcox, Manchester United’s Director of Football, praised Mbeumo’s consistent performance over recent seasons: "Bryan's goals and assists record in the Premier League is exceptional." He added that Mbeumo’s commitment to joining United confirmed his suitability for their evolving culture.
Mbeumo shared his enthusiasm about joining Manchester United: "My mentality is to always be better than I was yesterday." He looks forward to learning from Ruben Amorim and playing alongside top-tier players at Old Trafford.
The club is thrilled to have secured one of their main targets before their pre-season tour begins. The upcoming experience in the US will allow Mbeumo to integrate with Ruben Amorim and his new teammates as they gear up for an exciting season ahead.
Mbeumo also mentioned how everyone spoke highly of the environment being cultivated at Manchester United and expressed excitement about future plans: "This is a massive club, with an incredible stadium and amazing fans."
