Bukayo Saka marked a personal milestone with the winning goal as Arsenal beat Brighton 1-0 at the Amex Stadium, giving Arsenal a seven-point lead over Manchester City in the Premier League title race after City drew 2-2 with Nottingham Forest.
The winger struck after nine minutes on Wednesday, when a low curling shot deflected off Carlos Baleba and wrong-footed the goalkeeper. The effort decided a tight contest and came on Saka's 300th appearance for Arsenal in all competitions.

Aged 24 years and 180 days, Saka became the fourth-youngest player to reach 300 games for Arsenal. Only David O'Leary, Cesc Fabregas and Liam Brady had done so at a younger age for the club.
{TABLE_1}That appearance total underlined Saka's durability and status in the squad. The occasion was also special because Saka wore the captain's armband. It capped a night that strengthened Arsenal's position at the top of the league in a close title battle.
Saka shared the moment’s impact and described the scale of the victory when speaking to TNT Sports. Saka said: "I couldn't believe it. They told me yesterday [about 300 appearances] and I was shocked," Saka told TNT Sports. "I just feel so happy right now, I feel blessed, I feel joy to wear the armband for this club and make 300 appearances, pick up a massive win, you know.I'mhappy, just continue moving like this. This feels like a massive win for us. Wedidn'tknow the score [of theCitymatch]but we heard the fans celebrating out of nowhere, so Ikind of knewsomething went well in the other games. But we just stayed focused, got the result and we feel good about it."
Saka was then asked about Arsenal opening a seven-point gap over Manchester City. Saka said: "Yeah, of course, it's a nice feeling, but like I said, we try to just focus on getting our result done and the rest is out of our control. We know we're in a race, and it's very tight. It'sbeen like that the last few years. Tonight, we played at the same time, and we both needed to win. Massive games. We did, they didn't, so we can be happy today."
The goal against Brighton was Saka's sixth in the Premier League this season. Saka now has five direct goal contributions in six league appearances at the Amex Stadium, with three goals and two assists against Brighton in that period.
Those three goals are also part of a wider away record. Saka's tally at the Amex matches the three goals scored at London Stadium against West Ham, making both grounds Saka's joint-best Premier League away venues for scoring.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta stressed how demanding the last few weeks had been for the squad while praising the team's work in this match. Arteta told TNT Sports: "This was a really difficult one after everything we've been through in the last few weeks," Arteta told TNT Sports. "Every game in the Premier League offers you different things. Big credit to the boys because the effort they put in is astronomical. Ididn'tknowthat Bukayo made that many appearances, but at his age, it is incredible the consistency heshowsand it is a pleasure to have himhere."
The narrow win over Brighton, combined with Manchester City dropping points against Nottingham Forest, strengthened Arsenal's position at the top. Saka's early goal, his 300th appearance landmark and strong away record highlighted the growing influence on Arsenal's title challenge, while Arteta underlined the squad's effort during a demanding period.
