Burnley Football Club has secured Martin Dubravka from Newcastle United on a one-year deal. The Slovakian goalkeeper, who has represented his country 50 times, joins after making 179 appearances at St. James Park since 2018. His transfer fee remains undisclosed. Dubravka's arrival follows the exit of James Trafford, who returned to Manchester City for £31 million.
Dubravka is set to strengthen a Burnley squad that conceded only 16 goals in the Championship last season, setting a record for the fewest goals allowed in the competition's history. The experienced goalkeeper brings with him an impressive record of 46 Premier League clean sheets during his tenure in England.
The Clarets' robust defence was a key factor in their successful campaign last season. Dubravka's addition aims to bolster this aspect further as they prepare for their return to the Premier League. His experience and skill are expected to complement an already solid defensive lineup.

Expressing his excitement about joining Burnley, Dubravka stated: "I'm delighted to be here. It's a really exciting time to be joining this Club, ahead of our return to the Premier League. I've only heard really positive things about the club, the culture and the environment we work in, so I'm excited about getting going with the season kicking off next weekend."
He further added: "Burnley had a fantastic campaign last season, built on a superb defensive record, and I can't wait to come in and add my experience and quality to what looks an exciting squad of players. I'm really looking forward to playing for the club in front of our passionate fans."
Dubravka might make his debut for Burnley against Tottenham on Saturday, August 16. This match could mark the beginning of his contributions towards maintaining Burnley's strong defensive reputation as they compete in the Premier League once again.
