Burnley has bolstered its defence by signing Quilindschy Hartman and Axel Tuanzebe. Hartman, joining from Feyenoord, agreed to a four-year contract. Despite knee surgery sidelining him for 19 league games last season, he managed 12 Eredivisie appearances. He was part of the team that won the league and KNVB Cup under Arne Slot, now Liverpool's manager.
Tuanzebe arrives from Ipswich Town on a free transfer after his contract ended at Portman Road. The 27-year-old played 45 matches across all competitions for Ipswich, contributing significantly to their Premier League promotion in the 2023-24 season. Last season, he featured in 22 top-flight games and has now signed a one-year deal with Burnley.

Hartman expressed his enthusiasm about joining Burnley: "It's a really special feeling of hunger and excitement." He credited coach Scott Parker as a major influence in his decision to move. Hartman will join a defence that conceded only 16 goals and achieved 30 clean sheets during their Championship-winning campaign.
The Clarets have also secured goalkeeper Max Weiss earlier this week, making Hartman and Tuanzebe the second and third signings of the summer transfer window under Scott Parker's management. This strategic recruitment aims to fortify Burnley's squad as they prepare for the upcoming Premier League challenges.
Tuanzebe shared his thoughts on joining Burnley: "It became a very simple decision after speaking to the manager." He appreciated the clear and direct communication from the club's leadership. Returning close to Manchester feels like coming home for him, marking a new chapter in his career.
These signings reflect Burnley's commitment to strengthening their squad as they return to the Premier League. With Hartman's defensive skills and Tuanzebe's experience, Burnley aims to build on their recent successes and compete effectively in the top tier of English football.
