Hakan Calhanoglu has reaffirmed his commitment to Inter Milan amid rumours linking him with a move to Galatasaray. Despite reports suggesting he had requested a transfer to the Turkish club, Calhanoglu clarified his intentions to remain with Inter. He missed Inter's final match at the Club World Cup, where they lost 2-0 to Fluminense in the last 16, which fueled further speculation.
The midfielder joined Inter in June 2021 and extended his contract two years later, securing his stay until 2027. Calhanoglu has played 182 matches for Inter across all competitions. After reaching the Champions League final in the 2024-25 season, he became the first Turkish player to participate in the event twice. Returning for pre-season training, he expressed no desire to leave soon.

Calhanoglu addressed transfer rumours in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, stating that such speculation is common every year. "A little more so this time," he noted but chose not to comment publicly earlier. "I wanted our fans to see that I'm back: it's not right to always make statements," he explained. He emphasised his happiness at being back and his intention to stay.
There are discussions about Calhanoglu potentially signing another contract with Inter, although he did not confirm these reports. "Let's hope and see what happens over the years," he remarked, adding that his primary aim is success with Inter Milan.
After Inter's Club World Cup exit, captain Lautaro Martinez appeared to question some teammates' commitment during a post-match interview. President Giuseppe Marotta later suggested Martinez was referring to Calhanoglu. The Turkish international responded by highlighting a lack of respect from both Martinez and Marotta but downplayed any ongoing issues between them.
"We've talked: we're professionals, there's no problem," Calhanoglu stated when asked about potential tensions with Martinez. He mentioned that they would reconnect once Martinez returned from vacation, noting that everyone is now more relaxed and focused on future goals.
As Inter Milan prepares for upcoming challenges, Calhanoglu remains committed to contributing positively to the team's success while maintaining professional relationships within the squad.
