Capello warns 'scandal-hit' England footballers to remember they are role models

By Super Admin

London, Feb 27 (ANI): England footie boss has expressed his anger at the off-field scandals that have undermined the start of World Cup year, and insisted his players must remember they are role models.

Capello was forced to strip John Terry of the captaincy after his affair with Wayne Bridge's former girlfriend resulted in the Manchester City left-back withdrawing from World Cup selection.

Asked if the series of allegations and exposes upset him, Capello said: "Yes. I am not lucky because I prefer the normal life and to speak about football, not personal lives."

"The next press conference will not be easy to speak about Egypt. A lot of questions will be about John Terry, Wayne Bridge and other things around their private life.

"The younger children look to these players as an example for life. For that reason, you have to understand that everything that these players do in their personal lives is an example for the children," the Mirror quoted Capello, as saying.

"When I met the players for the first time I told them they had to respect all the people that work with me, around us and the other players. I want the respect at every moment. When we are eating, training, working, on the bus. Always," he added.

Capello will finalise his squad this evening after watching Chelsea's crunch clash with Manchester City.

Capello is also worried about more injuries, which would render the entire week redundant in terms of getting his messages, especially on player behaviour, across. (ANI)
