Carabao Cup 2025 Final Date: When is Liverpool vs Newcastle EFL Cup Title Clash?

By MyKhel Staff

Holders Liverpool booked their tickets to Wembley and a League Cup final against Newcastle United after a thumping victory over a toothless Tottenham Hotspur in the second leg of the Carabao Cup 2025 semi-final at Anfield on Thursday (February 6).

Liverpool, who had beaten Chelsea last year to win the EFL Cup, kept their title defence alive with a 4-0 rout, and 4-1 aggregate win against Spurs, while Newcastle sealed their final berth with an impressive 2-0 win over Arsenal on Wednesday (February 5) at St James' Park.

The runaway favourites Liverpool, who have quadruple in their sight this season, overturned a first leg deficit of 0-1 to see off Tottenham thanks to goals from Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah, Dominik Szoboszlai and Virgil van Dijk.

Newcastle reached their second final in three years, having fallen short in their previous attempt in 2023. The Magpies, who claimed a 2-0 advantage at the Emirates last month, rode on goals from Jacob Murphy and Anthony Gordon to reach their third League Cup final.

With an all-Premier League affair set for the final stage of the EFL Cup, here is a look at when and where the Carabao Cup 2024-25 Finals will be played:

When is the Carabao Cup 2025 Final?

Carabao Cup 2025 Final date: The title clash between Liverpool and Newcastle United will be staged at the Wembley Stadium in London on Sunday, March 16th, 2025, a day before St Patrick's Day. Kick-off time has not yet been confirmed, but the 2024 final kicked off at 3 PM Local Time (8:30 PM IST).

How is the EFL Cup Final decided?

Unlike the semi-finals, where two legs decided the outcome, the final will be decided in just a single match. If the two teams are not separated at the end of regulation time, then the match will head into 30 minutes of extra time and possibly penalties if it's still a deadlock.

Although there was no extra time till the quarterfinal stages, the additional 30 minutes are used in the Carabao Cup from the semi-finals and onwards. So, the winner will be decided on the given day even if the match ends in a draw via a penalty shootout.
