Carlo Ancelotti aims to continue success of Guardiola

By Ians English

Munich, July 11: Bayern Munich new head coach Carlo Ancelotti on Monday said he will not be starting a revolution at the German football club but wants to continue the success of previous coach Pep Guardiola.

The former AC Milan and Real Madrid head coach has taken over at Bayern on a three-year contract after the Catalan's decision to join Manchester City and was presented as he started his new role on Monday.

Bayern have won four straight Bundesliga titles, including three during Guardiola's reign, and Ancelotti is not keen on overhauling the set-up given the winning formula that has existed in recent seasons.

"I think my friend Guardiola has done some great work in the last few years. I have to take into consideration the characteristics of the players, but I am not here to do a revolution," Ancelotti told Bayern's website.

"The job Guardiola did here was fantastic and I would like to follow this style. The style I know very well that Bayern Munich want to play attacking football. I love to play attacking football, I have a fantastic squad and I am really happy with this."

The Italian coach also praised the new signings ahead of the season.

"I don't think the style of play is going to change a lot from the last year. The players are more or less the same and the system will be too," he said.

"We have signed fantastic players this season and we will try to do our best -- this is our goal. Bayern Munich are one of the best teams, best clubs in the world. They have a fantastic tradition and history of football and I would like to follow this line."

With Portugal's teenage star Renato Sanches already signed from Benfica and Mats Hummels brought in from Borussia Dortmund, Ancelotti is not anticipating any further imminent additions to his squad.

"I think the squad is really good. We are not talking with the club about new signings because we are really happy."

"Of course the market is open until August 31 and everything can happen, but I have to speak now about the players that are at Bayern," Ancelotti added.

The five-time Champions League winner explained that the style of play is primarily dependent on "the characteristics of the players. I have an idea of football, and it has to suit the players".

The experienced coach, who has also worked for Chelsea and Paris Saint Germain, stressed that he does not feel excessive pressure: "I've always had the good fortune to coach top teams. Each top club wants to win. But to be honest, I don't feel the pressure that much. I love what I'm doing.

"We always try to do our best. Bayern have a great history, in the Champions League too. We want to be competitive and win every competition."

Ancelotti, however, made it clear that his work is not a guarantee of a triumph in Europe's elite club competition. "I'll start every season with the goal of winning the Champions League. But it's not easy, it's not as if there's only one club wanting to achieve it."
