Carragher Criticises Salah As A Disgrace Following Liverpool's Draw With Leeds United

Jamie Carragher condemned Mohamed Salah's remarks after Liverpool's draw with Leeds United, calling them a disgrace. He highlighted Salah's responsibility to support the club amid struggles.

Jamie Carragher criticised Mohamed Salah's recent comments after Liverpool's 3-3 draw with Leeds United. Salah, who was benched for the third consecutive match, expressed dissatisfaction in a post-match interview. He claimed his relationship with manager Arne Slot had deteriorated and that he felt abandoned by the club. Salah also mentioned Carragher, suggesting the pundit would criticise him, which Carragher did not shy away from doing.

In response to Salah's remarks, Carragher stated on Monday Night Football, "I thought it was a disgrace what he did after the game. Some people have painted it as an emotional outburst. I do not think it was." He suggested that Salah's actions were planned with his agent to maximise impact and improve his standing.

Carragher Labels Salah's Comments a Disgrace

Since joining Liverpool in 2017, Salah has been a key player, scoring 250 goals and providing 113 assists in 420 appearances. His contributions have helped the team secure eight major trophies, including two Premier League titles and the Champions League. Despite this success, his current season has seen only five goals and three assists.

During his critique, Carragher highlighted a specific phrase from Salah's interview: "thrown under the bus." He accused Salah of undermining the club twice in one year and failing to support the team during their worst period since the 1950s. Carragher also noted that while Salah is celebrated for his achievements, he has often left Liverpool's right-backs exposed over the years.

The former Liverpool defender also questioned Salah's international record with Egypt. He pointed out that before joining Liverpool, Salah wasn't a major star and hasn't achieved significant success with Egypt. Carragher emphasised that no matter how talented a player is, they need support from teammates and fans.

Salah will soon join Egypt for the Africa Cup of Nations. Carragher remarked on how important it is for Salah to remember the role of his manager and supporters in his career. He criticised Salah for focusing too much on himself when discussing matches like those against Leeds.

Salah's recent performance contrasts sharply with his outstanding 2024-25 season when he was involved in 57 goals across all competitions. Despite this dip in form, his overall contribution to Liverpool remains significant.
