Casemiro plans to leave Manchester United when this season finishes, and does not intend to reconsider. The midfielder has produced strong performances under Michael Carrick, yet the earlier decision to depart still stands. Speculation about a possible change of heart has grown, but Casemiro remains set on moving on.
Earlier this year Casemiro confirmed that the current deal at Old Trafford would not be renewed. Manchester United hold an option to extend that contract by one year, which could keep Casemiro in Manchester. Reports suggested the clause might be used, but Casemiro is not interested in prolonging the stay.

Across all competitions, Casemiro has played 155 matches for Manchester United since joining at the start of the 2022-23 season. Performances have drawn criticism at times in the Premier League. However, recent months have brought an effective final spell, with performances matching Casemiro’s reputation in defensive midfield.
Casemiro has scored seven Premier League goals this season, the highest league total of the career in Europe’s top five divisions. The previous best came at Real Madrid in 2020-21, when Casemiro struck six times. This campaign has therefore delivered enhanced attacking returns, alongside the usual defensive work.
Six of those league goals have arrived from non-penalty set-piece situations. No Manchester United player has matched that figure in a single top-flight season since Wayne Rooney in 2011-12, when Rooney scored seven such goals. These numbers underline Casemiro’s threat from dead-ball situations during this farewell campaign.
"I am still enjoying it a lot [in Manchester], Casemiro said after Brazil's 2-1 friendly defeat to France, as quoted by The Athletic. It is huge, the affection that the fans have shown towards me. But I do really believe the decision is made and done. I believe there will be some difficult moments, in these [final] games at Manchester United."
Those comments followed Brazil’s 2-1 friendly loss against France, highlighting Casemiro’s mixed emotions. Casemiro appreciates the support at Old Trafford, yet accepts that challenging occasions may follow in the closing fixtures. The midfielder appears determined to handle those moments while staying faithful to the planned exit.
"Above all, Michael is a specialist in my position on the field; he was a truly great player, he added. That makes everything much easier, and he is always talking to us. I feel like we are in a good dynamic right now in Manchester, and my objective now is to get the club back into the Champions League."
Michael Carrick took charge of Manchester United in January, replacing Ruben Amorim, and results have improved. Under Carrick, United have lost only one of ten matches. The team currently sit third in the Premier League. That position keeps qualification for the Champions League in reach, matching Casemiro’s stated target.
Manchester United return to Premier League action against long-standing rivals Leeds United on 13 April. That fixture forms part of the final stretch of Casemiro’s stay at Old Trafford. With Champions League qualification at stake and Casemiro committed to leaving, each remaining match carries extra significance for club and midfielder.
