Casemiro reveals playing with Wrong Name all his Life, What is Man United and Real Madrid player's Real Name?

By MyKhel Staff

In the world of football, few players command as much respect as Casemiro, the Brazilian powerhouse who has anchored midfields for giants like Real Madrid and Manchester United.

With five Champions League titles, multiple La Liga wins, and a key role in Brazil's international successes, his legacy is etched in gold.

Casemiro reveals playing with Wrong Name all his Life What is Man United and Real Madrid player s Real Name

But in a surprising twist revealed recently, the name we've all known him by "Casemiro", has been misspelt throughout his entire professional career. His real name? Carlos Henrique José Francisco Venâncio Casimiro, with an "i" instead of an "e."

The story dates back to his early days at São Paulo, where he rose through the youth ranks from 2002 to 2013. During one of his first matches for the senior team, a simple printing error on his jersey swapped the "i" for an "e." Rather than correcting it, the superstitious young player decided to let it slide after delivering an outstanding performance on the pitch. In a recent interview, Casemiro opened up about the blunder.

"For everyone, I will always be Casemiro... It's all Sao Paulo's fault. It all started when I played one of my first matches for Sao Paulo, the club where I went through the ranks, from the youth team to the first team [from 2002 to 2013]. They accidentally wrote my name with an 'e' on the shirt. I played very well. I'm a very superstitious person. I told the club: 'There's no need to change it - things are going well.' It was a one-match mistake, and now I'll carry it with me forever."

This quirky decision stuck like glue. As Casemiro moved to Porto on loan in 2014, then to Real Madrid where he became a legend, and finally to Manchester United in 2022 for £70 million, the erroneous spelling followed him everywhere, oblivious to the typo that's now an indelible part of his brand.

Interestingly, this isn't the first time he's shared the anecdote. In an earlier interview, he recounted a similar version, emphasizing his superstition.

"I played really well in that game & as I'm a superstitious person, I said 'No need to change it, just leave it like that, things are going well,'" he said.
