Celtic's Brendan Rodgers Encourages Team To Leave No Regrets In Bayern Munich Return Leg

Brendan Rodgers motivates Celtic to approach the Champions League return leg against Bayern Munich without regrets. After a competitive first match, he emphasises the need for aggression and belief in their capabilities.

Bayern Munich secured a narrow victory in the first leg of their Champions League play-off against Celtic. Brendan Rodgers urged his team to approach the return match with determination. Michael Olise scored just before half-time, and Harry Kane added another for Bayern in the second half. Daizen Maeda's late goal gave Celtic hope for the upcoming match in Munich.

Rodgers expressed satisfaction with Celtic's performance towards the end of the game. He encouraged his players to maintain their aggressive approach in Munich. "The last 25 minutes, we started to press the game, we were more active at the top end of the pitch, and you see what it brought - aggression," Rodgers told TNT Sports. He emphasised that they are still very much in contention.

Rodgers Urges Celtic for Bayern Return Leg

Kane's goal from Joshua Kimmich's corner was crucial, marking his 19th goal against Kasper Schmeichel. This tally is five more than he has scored against any other goalkeeper. Kane now has 46 Champions League goal involvements, trailing only David Beckham and Wayne Rooney among English players.

Kane acknowledged the challenging atmosphere at Celtic Park but praised Bayern's ability to handle it. "[Our performance] was okay. Whenever you win a game like this, you're always pleased because it's not an easy place to come," said Kane to TNT Sports. He noted areas for improvement but was satisfied with scoring at crucial moments.

Celtic showed resilience by applying pressure towards the end of the match, forcing Bayern to defend strongly. Despite this, Bayern managed to hold on to their lead. The team knew they would have more possession and needed patience to break through Celtic's defence effectively.

Rodgers highlighted that despite Bayern's scoring potential, Celtic remained competitive throughout the match. "With their quality and the number of goals they can score, sometimes these can be out of sight, but that wasn't the case at all," he stated.

As both teams prepare for Tuesday's clash in Munich, Celtic aims to build on their promising performance from the first leg. The tie remains open, offering both sides a chance to advance further in the competition.

Both teams are set for an exciting second leg encounter as they vie for a spot in the next round of Europe's elite club competition.
