Celtic Thrash St Johnstone To Extend Lead Over Rangers In Scottish Premiership

Celtic defeated St Johnstone 4-0, with Kyogo Furuhashi scoring twice, increasing their lead over second-place Rangers to 14 points after a draw against Motherwell.

Kyogo Furuhashi's double helped Celtic secure a commanding 4-0 victory over St Johnstone, solidifying their lead in the Scottish Premiership. Nicolas Kuhn and Daizen Maeda also scored at Celtic Park, pushing the team 14 points ahead of Rangers. Rangers were held to a 2-2 draw by Motherwell, allowing Celtic to extend their advantage further.

Reo Hatate assisted Nicolas Kuhn's seventh goal of the season, breaking the deadlock for Celtic after 30 minutes. The home side increased their lead just before the hour mark with Kyogo heading in from a corner, marking their 50th league goal this season. Kyogo added another five minutes later, converting Arne Engels' low cross.

Celtic Pull Clear of Rangers with Big Win

Substitute Daizen Maeda completed the scoring in the 73rd minute after receiving a through ball from Paulo Bernardo. This win means Kyogo has been involved in 11 goals against St Johnstone in his last seven league matches. Meanwhile, Rangers had to fight back from two goals down to earn a point at Fir Park.

Apostolos Stamatelopoulos gave Motherwell an early lead in the 16th minute. Tawanda Maswanhise then doubled it with an impressive solo effort. Philippe Clement brought on Hamza Igamane at halftime, who reduced the deficit within five minutes of play resuming.

Despite having two goals disallowed by VAR, Tony Watt was denied twice before Igamane equalised for Rangers on 68 minutes. However, they couldn't find a winner and fell further behind Celtic in the standings.

Celtic's comprehensive win over St Johnstone highlights their dominance this season as they continue to widen the gap at the top of the table. With consistent performances and key players like Kyogo Furuhashi stepping up, they remain strong contenders for the title.
