London, August 15: After their stunning opening day defeat against Premier league minnows, Burnley, Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta joined manager Antonio Conte to moan about Chelsea's lack of signing proper players, so the Blues can challenge for the title this season.
Chelsea had two players sent off and succumbed to Burnley 3-2 in the first match of its English Premier League title defense on Saturday (August 12), escalating the worries encompassing the Blues after their disappointing activity in the transfer window.
Chelsea crumbled down under pressure when captain Gary Cahill was sent off in the first half and following the red card his side conceded three quick goals within the first half.
Antonio Conte gave 20-year-old academy graduate Jeremie Boga his first senior start in the match and with players like Eden Hazard, Pedro Rodriguez and Victor Moses all out injured and letting 11 players go from the first team squad, Conte had to make six new names in the matchday squad.
And now in a recent interview defender Azpilicueta has suggested that Chelsea require more experienced choices in the squad and such situation will not even benefit the youngsters as well the squad.
"Well when you see the players we lost, and the players we have signed in, they are not the same," he said after Saturday's Stamford Bridge defeat.
"Obviously we have very good young players, but we have to know the reality that being champions is even harder the next season, we have experience of that."
"So we need players, also for the development of the young players, they need help from senior players, from top players, not to rush them in a position where maybe they are not ready to go at the moment but they will be in the future."
"So it is something that the club is working on with the manager, and hopefully we can get new signings in the next few weeks."
Chelsea will again be without five first team players for their next fixture against Tottenham in Wembley and the Blues will now hope that new signings can be made before the weekend to turn things around in the next match.
