CFL 2024: East Bengal secure convincing 3-0 against Eastern Railway, go top of Group

Emami East Bengal FC defeated Eastern Railway SC 3-0 in their seventh Group B fixture at the East Bengal Ground on Friday (August 9).

The Red & Gold Brigade broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute via Md Mushraf who scored his second consecutive goal in the ongoing CFL, off Hira Mondal's assist.

EEB doubled their lead in the 41st minute as Aman CK played a one-two with Monotosh Chakladar, and slotted the ball into the top corner with a powerful shot from the edge of the box to get his third goal of CFL 2024.

The Kolkata giants continued dominating possession in the second half as well. After creating multiple chances, they found the third and final goal of the match through Jesin TK in the 77th minute. The Kerala striker continued his scoring spree as he latched onto the end of a long throw from Suman Dey and cut inside the box from the right to score with a clinical left-footed finish. It was Jesin's seventh goal of CFL 2024. He was adjudged the Player of the Match.

The Red and Gold brigade currently top the Group B standings with 19 points from 7 matches (6 wins and 1 draw. Goals scored: 23, Goals conceded: 3).

East Bengal will face Bhawanipore FC in their next CFL match at the East Bengal Ground on August 12.
