It is down to 16 teams in the UEFA Champions League 2024-25 season after four more teams exited the tournament following Wednesday’s four knockout playoff second leg matches in Europe's top club competition.
All 16 teams have confirmed their progress to the UCL round of 16 with the top eight from the first round joined by four knockout phase playoff winners on Tuesday (February 18), while the remaining four slots were booked after the second leg matches on Wednesday (February 19).

Liverpool, Barcelona, Inter, Arsenal, Aston Villa, Lille, Atletico Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen had booked their spot for the round of 16 draw, having finished in the top 8, while Bayern Munich, Feyenoord, Club Brugge and Benfica sealed their spots by winning the two-legged knockout phase playoff.

There is no restriction, meaning a team can be drawn to play a club from their own association. The brackets were already generated at the start of the league phase, pitting each team based on their league position.
For example, teams that finished first and second in the league phase will face the winners of the knockout phase play-off ties involving the 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th-placed teams in the round of 16; teams that finish third or fourth will be drawn against the winners of the knockout phase play-off ties involving the 13th, 14th, 19th and 20th-placed teams, and so on.
The UCL 2024-25 round of 16 draw will take place on Friday (February 21) with the quarter-final and semi-final draw also being determined on the same day. While the round of 16 matches take place in March, the quarter-final and semi-final matches will take place in April and May.
