Arsenal have capped off an impressive UEFA Champions League group stages as Mikel Arteta's men secured a crucial victory in the final group stage match against Girona on Wednesday (January 29).
They Gunners have their place in the Round of 16 and will be playing in the knockout stages up next, scheduled to start in February.

Arsenal's journey through the league phase has been marked by several key matches. The Gunners started their Champions League campaign this season with a stalemate against Atalanta, but have been impressive since. Apart from a blemish at Inter Milan where they lost 1-0, the North London club has won all the other matches.

As Arsenal prepare for the knockout stages, Mikel Arteta's men are set to play some tough opponents in the Round of 16. By virtue of finishing in Top 8, the North London club has progressed straight to the Round of 16. Hence, they will face a team advancing from playoff stages.
The teams from 9th to 24th place will be playing a two-legged playoff stage. In the Champions League this season, there are no country protection, which means Arsenal could play any of the English clubs as well.
As Arsenal finished 3rd in the points table, they will face any team out of the 13th, 14th, 19th or 20th placed teams. As 13th, 14th & 19th, 20th placed teams are set to pair against each other in the playoffs, any of the four teams shall go on to play against the North London club in the Round of 16.
By the group stage standings, Arsenal can face either AC Milan (13th), PSV Eindhoven (14th), Feyenoord (19th) or Juventus (20th) in the Round of 16 tie.
