Southampton Triumphs Over QPR In Managerless Match; Norwich Draws To End Losing Streak

In the Championship, Southampton claimed a vital 2-1 victory over QPR without a manager, while Norwich City drew with Sheffield Wednesday to halt their six-match losing streak. Both teams face challenges as they navigate the league.

Southampton secured a 2-1 victory over QPR in their first match since Will Still's departure. Interim manager Tonda Eckert led the Saints to their first win since September. Jay Robinson scored in the 55th minute, capitalising on a counter-attack. Leo Scienza added another goal 14 minutes later with a remarkable strike. Despite Rumarn Burrell scoring for QPR in the 73rd minute, they couldn't equalise.

Southampton Wins; Norwich Ends Losing Streak

Norwich City halted their six-game losing streak by drawing with Sheffield Wednesday. Barry Bannan gave Wednesday an early lead with a stunning goal after four minutes. However, Mathias Kvistgaarden equalised for Norwich. This result leaves Wednesday at the bottom of the table with -4 points, while Norwich remains in the relegation zone.

Preston North End climbed to fourth place after defeating Swansea City 2-1. Thierry Small opened the scoring with a volley just eight minutes into the game. Milutin Osmajic then doubled Preston's lead from close range. Although Eom Ji-Sung scored for Swansea in the 80th minute, they couldn't find an equaliser.

Wrexham extended their unbeaten run to four games with a goalless draw against Portsmouth. Kieffer Moore and Lewis O'Brien had chances for Wrexham, while Josh Murphy and Ibane Bowat missed opportunities for Portsmouth. Despite not winning, Portsmouth ended their three-game losing streak.

Southampton's triumph at Loftus Road marked their fifth consecutive win against QPR in the Football League. Before this match, Southampton had lost more away games than any other team since last season started, tied with Watford at 18 losses. Meanwhile, Sheffield Wednesday have dropped nine points from winning positions this season and haven't won in nine home league games.

Liam Manning of Norwich faces pressure as he remains winless in eight league encounters against Sheffield Wednesday (D4 L4). This is the most times he has faced a team without securing a victory in the Football League.

The recent matches highlighted both triumphs and struggles across teams in the Championship. Southampton's victory was significant given their previous away record, while Norwich and Sheffield Wednesday continue to face challenges at the bottom of the table.
