Charity match to Mother Teresa: Maradona to take Kolkata by storm

Bengaluru, December 11: Diego Maradona has landed in Kolkata for the second time since 2008 and the Argentine legend is all set to take the football-mad city by storm for the next three days.

Maradona, a World Cup winner with Argentina in 1986, will have a slew of programmes in the City of Joy and here's a close look at his schedule.

Where is he staying?

In a plush five-star hotel in the heart of Kolkata. The 'Maradona Suite' will be decorated with pictures of his most memorable moments on the field.

Along with it, the walls of the suite will feature pictures of Communist revolutionary Che Guvera and former Cuban leader Fidel Castro, whom Maradona often refers to as "second father."

What will he eat?

The menu will feature mainly beef and steak preparations as Maradona is fond of them. The hotel has hired a special chef, adept in Latin American cuisine for this purpose.

"We want to make this trip memorable for Maradona, greatest footballer of our time. We have been informed that he likes beef and steak delicacies, especially grilled chicken, and we have prepared a special menu for him," one of the hotel authorities told MyKhel from Kolkata.

His schedule

Monday: Maradona may drop in at the Missionaries of Charity founded by Mother Teresa after the police authorities check with security arrangements. He may also meet some young footballers there.

Tuesday: This is the much-anticipated day - Dada vs Diego. Maradona may actually play football albeit for a few minutes in an exhibition match organised by cricketing icon from the city - Sourav Ganguly.

The venue of charity match: Barasat, 35 km away from Kolkata. A host of celebrities may also participate. But this too, after strict screening of security preparations.

Wednesday: The legend may take a small city trip before leaving for Dubai.
