Roy Hodgson Reveals Chelsea Can Recall Ruben Loftus-Cheek From Palace Loan

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has revealed that Chelsea have the clause to recall academy star Ruben Loftus-Cheek to their squad in January.



The midfielder is been regarded as one of the best English prospects of the current generation and has already tasted success at the youth level by winning two FA Youth Cups, the under-21 Premier League and UEFA Youth League with Chelsea reserve squad.



The 21-year-old joined the Blues Academy at the age of eight and made his debut in December 2014 and made 32 senior appearances for the club in the last three seasons. However, his progress stalled last season under new manager Antonio Conte as he only managed to make just six substitute appearances in the Premier League which prompted the club to send the youngster to Crystal Palace to give him more playing time.



Since his arrival to Selhurst Park Cheek has been impressive for struggling for Palace and his recent performance also earned him his senior England international recognition in the process. But in a worrying factor, Palace manager Hodgson now has revealed Ruben Loftus-Cheek's loan spell at Crystal Palace could be cut short due to a clause in their agreement with Chelsea.



"I have a feeling that they have the right to call him back if he is not playing enough games or featuring in enough games, which is a good clause.



"If you are loaning out players who you believe in to get playing time, and the clubs aren’t using the player, then I think you are entitled to bring them back.



"I think that clause exists. That is, I suppose, a risk for us. If we suddenly decide we don’t want to use him then he could go back. But we are enjoying having him with us and using him in our team, so I don’t think I have to fear that at this moment in time," he added.



Loftus-Cheek has made ten appearances for Crystal Palace so far this season and registered two goals and one assist to his name despite being sidelined with an injury in September.
