Chelsea Secures 3-1 Victory Over Wolves To Climb Back Into Premier League Top Four

Chelsea secured a 3-1 win over Wolves at Stamford Bridge, ending their five-game winless run in the Premier League. Tosin Adarabioyo, Marc Cucurella, and Noni Madueke scored for Chelsea, lifting them back into the top four. Tosin opened the scoring with his first Premier League goal, but a mistake by Robert Sanchez allowed Matt Doherty to equalise before halftime.

Wolves' vulnerability to set-pieces was evident again as they conceded two more goals in quick succession during the second half. Cucurella celebrated his 100th Premier League appearance by converting Madueke's deflected cross on the hour mark. Shortly after, Madueke scored from close range following Trevoh Chalobah's header from Cole Palmer's corner.

Enzo Maresca's team moved ahead of Newcastle United and Manchester City into fourth place. Meanwhile, Wolves remain in 17th position, narrowly avoiding the relegation zone due to goal difference. This defeat marked Wolves' third consecutive league loss at the start of a calendar year for the first time since 1982 when they were relegated.

Sanchez's error against Wolves was his fourth this season that led directly to a goal, with only Ipswich Town's Arijanet Muric having more such mistakes. Wolves have conceded 19 goals from set-pieces and 11 from corners this season, both being the highest in the league. Madueke's goal added to his tally against Wolves this term.

Historically, only Diego Costa (five against Swansea in 2014-15), Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink (five against Tottenham in 2001-02), and Gianluca Vialli (five against Barnsley in 1997-98) have scored more times against a single opponent for Chelsea in one Premier League season.
