Chelsea agree fee for Belgian striker Michy Batshuayi

London, June 29: Chelsea FC are on the verge of completing their first signing of this summer as they have reportedly agreed on a deal with French side Marseille for Belgian international striker Michy Batshuayi for a hefty £33m!

The 22-year-old Belgiun had an impressive outing with the French club last season as he had netted 21 times. He also scored Belgium most recently in Euro round of 16 clash against Hungary in which Belgium had emerged victorious by 4-0.

It is believed that Marseille have £21m to pay to the French Football Finance Regulator DNCG. This might have lured them to sell their priced possession to the Premier League giants for such a huge sum.

Chelsea have already sent one of their doctors to the Belgium camp in order to conduct a medical test for the player. The player might sign as the Euro is over.

Batshuayi has played for Brussels FC and Anderlecht at the youth level and also represented the Belgium U21 side. His first proffessional contract was with Standard Liege. In 2014, the youngster had joined Marseille.

As per reports, along with DNCG, the French also have to £11m to his first club Standard Liege as it was there in his contract at Marseille.

The new signing might prove to be a good one for Antonio Conte's side. Chelsea have suffered a lot in the previous season due to lack of a proper striker in their squad. Diego Costa remained injured for quite some time. The other options at hand were Radamel Falcao and Loic Remy failed to live up to any expectation.

The Blues might send Falcao back to AS Monaco and sell Loic Remy. Michy Batshuayi thus will perfectly fit into the team.
