London, Feb 26: Defending Premier League Champions Chelsea’s long-standing interest in Juventus left-back Alex Sandro has reportedly come to a halt. Reports suggest that Alex Sandro is no more a target for the Blues as the club is now content with their options for that position.
Marcos Alonso had cemented his place for the left back position, but Chelsea had no options in a case where the Spaniard would be rested or injured.
However, Conte’s tactics preferred Davide Zappacosta as a viable replacement for Alonso. Also, Chelsea signed Emerson Palmieri last month who plays as left-back leaving the club with three options for defence. And this has left the club wondering whether they should invest such a heavy amount in Sandro now.
According to Italian publisher, Calcio Mercato, Chelsea who were very interested in signing the Brazil international are currently not willing to discuss any potential transfer for him. The club will instead look to develop Alonso and Palmieri.
However, this means good news for fellow PL club Manchester United along with Paris-Saint Germain. While United had also shown their interest earlier, PSG have recently entered the chase. And reports suggest that Alex Sandro is very keen on joining the Ligue 1 big boys.
Sandro is close to his Brazil compatriot Dani Alves, who spent a one season spell with Juventus before joining PSG this summer. With Neymar too on board at PSG, Sandro is keen to be around his Brazil team-mates.
While Juventus won’t hold back Alex Sandro, their valuation for the full-back is not a low boat. The Old Lady has set out a price tag of £44mn (€50mn) for the full-back. But despite this transfer interest, Sandro still insists he is fully committed to the Serie A giants.
