Chelsea bid for Manchester United target Serge Aurier

Chelsea join the race for Manchester United target Serge Aurier from PSG and are believed to have bid €30 million (£27m) for the Ivorian defender.

London, August 4: Chelsea and Manchester United have clashed against each other more than once this summer in the transfer market. The two English giants locked horns for Alvaro Morata and Romelu Lukaku respectively and surprisingly, both hijacked each other's target.

The two sides are set to collide once again as Chelsea have registered their interest in Paris Saint-Germain right-back Serge Aurier who is a target for Jose Mourinho at Manchester United as well.

A number of French publications have claimed that Chelsea have entered the race for Serge Aurier of PSG and have submitted a €30 million (£27m) bid for the Ivorian.

Earlier this week, reports claimed that Manchester United had a deal in place to sign the 24-year-old, but with Chelsea having entered the fray, it will be hard for the Red Devils to get their man.

PSG, who signed Barcelona forward Neymar for a £198m fee are currently looking to offload several players in order to escape Financial Fair Play (FFP) sanctions and Aurier is one of the player they are looking to offload.

Aurier was found guilty of assaulting a police officer outside a nightclub in Paris last year and was subsequently denied entry to the UK for PSG's Champions League clash with Arsenal in October.

The French giants have signed Dani Alves at right-back this summer and also have Thomas Meunier in their ranks which means that they would like to cash in on the Ivorian.

Antonio Conte is looking to add depth to his squad and the Blues are certainly short of options at right wing-back where Victor Moses is the first-choice right now.

Cesar Azpilicueta and Pedro Rodriguez can play in that role but Conte would hardly want his key players switching from their favoured roles.
