Chelsea Club World Cup 2025 Squad: The FIFA Club World Cup 2025 will take place from June 14 to July 13 in the United States. English Premier League giants Chelsea FC, drawn in Group D, have revealed their 28-man squad. Led by new head coach Enzo Maresca, the Blues will begin their campaign against Los Angeles FC on June 16 in Atlanta, followed by group stage fixtures against Flamengo and Esperance Tunis in Philadelphia.
The roster includes a solid core of seasoned players like Cole Palmer, Enzo Fernandez, and Nicolas Jackson, who played a pivotal role in Chelsea's UEFA Conference League triumph and fourth-place finish in the 2024-25 Premier League. Attacking options like Pedro Neto and Noni Madueke add depth and creativity. The return of Andrey Santos from a successful loan spell at Strasbourg underlines his progression. The defensive lineup is strengthened by Marc Cucurella, Levi Colwill, and Reece James. Fresh signings Liam Delap, Dario Essugo, Mamadou Sarr, and Mike Penders are also named, showing Maresca’s focus on youth integration.

A number of high-profile names have been omitted from the announced squad, sparking discussions. Goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic, impressed during his loan at Strasbourg, was left out reportedly due to his request to focus on future opportunities amid interest from several European clubs. Other exclusions include loanees Ben Chilwell, Raheem Sterling, Axel Disasi, and Joao Felix, as Chelsea opted for those who ended the season with the first team.
Wesley Fofana remains sidelined as he recovers from hamstring surgery, while youngsters Kendry Paez and Mathis Amougou were also dropped, with both likely to join Strasbourg on loan. Mykhailo Mudryk misses out too, having been provisionally suspended by the FA after testing positive for a banned substance.
Chelsea’s recent transfer policy stays focused on signing young players with long-term promise. Four fresh faces will now feature in the Club World Cup 2025 squad.
Liam Delap: Signed from Ipswich Town for £30 million, Delap is a physically dominant 22-year-old striker with 12 goals in 37 league games last season. His previous link with Maresca from Manchester City’s academy and his decision to skip the England U21 Euros for Chelsea showcase his dedication. He is set to debut against LAFC.
Dario Essugo: A 20-year-old defensive midfielder praised for his tackling and recovery skills, joined Sporting CP for £18.5 million with a contract until 2033. He made 27 appearances for Las Palmas during his loan last season. Immediate starts are unlikely, but he's seen as a long-term asset.
Mamadou Sarr: A 19-year-old defender from Strasbourg, secured for £12 million, signed until 2033. He helped Strasbourg qualify for the Conference League with 28 games. Despite his potential, he could be loaned out again next season.
Mike Penders: A 19-year-old goalkeeper from Genk, Penders joins ahead of the Club World Cup. A Belgium U19 international, he’s regarded as one of Europe’s best young goalkeepers.
Liam Delap: The former Manchester City academy graduate could become a game-changer in this tournament. After shining at Ipswich, he’s been brought in as a future cornerstone for Chelsea’s attack.
Andrey Santos: Fresh off a productive loan at Strasbourg where he netted 11 goals in 34 appearances, the 21-year-old Brazilian midfielder’s versatility and scoring ability make him a strong contender for a first-team spot.
Aaron Anselmino: The 20-year-old Boca Juniors product brings poise and strength to the backline, making him another youngster to keep an eye on in Chelsea’s Club World Cup push.
Chelsea’s 2025 Club World Cup squad is a balanced mix of youth and experience, aiming to make a serious impact on the world stage. With a favourable group and Maresca’s sharp tactical mind, the Blues have a real shot at the title.
