Chelsea's manager, Enzo Maresca, expressed disappointment after his team drew 2-2 with AFC Bournemouth at home. This result extended their winless streak in the Premier League to five games. Chelsea started strong with Cole Palmer scoring early and creating more chances. However, they lost their lead when Justin Kluivert equalised from a penalty and Antoine Semenyo put Bournemouth ahead with 20 minutes left.
Reece James managed to secure a draw for Chelsea with a late free-kick goal, marking his first goal in over two years. Despite this, Maresca felt his team deserved all three points, citing missed opportunities as the reason for not winning. "I think we deserved much more, especially in the first half," Maresca told TNT Sports. He emphasised the importance of creating chances but lamented their inability to convert them into goals.

Maresca also commented on the team's performance after conceding goals. He noted that they tend to change their playing style negatively after such events. "Tonight, after we concede the penalty, we drop a bit, and we need to improve on that," he added. The coach believes Chelsea should have scored three goals in the first half alone.
The match also saw controversy when David Brooks received only a yellow card after an incident with Marc Cucurella. Maresca believed Brooks should have been sent off and said, "I think so. Hopefully, we can be more lucky in the future." The referee reviewed the incident using VAR but decided against a red card.
Bournemouth's manager, Andoni Iraola, felt that a draw was fair despite being close to securing their first win at Stamford Bridge since 2019. He acknowledged Chelsea's dominance in the first half while praising his team's second-half performance. "I don't think we deserved to win today and Chelsea were better than us in the first half," Iraola stated.
Iraola was unhappy about the free-kick awarded to Chelsea that led to their equaliser. He argued there was minimal contact on Joao Felix and questioned VAR's role in reviewing such decisions. "I am angry because of their equaliser," he said. Despite playing an additional 15 minutes due to stoppages, Iraola maintained that Bournemouth did not deserve a victory.
The match highlighted both teams' strengths and weaknesses as they continue their Premier League campaigns. While Chelsea showed potential with early dominance, converting opportunities remains crucial for future success.
