Chelsea's manager, Enzo Maresca, expressed that his team deserved to win against Nottingham Forest despite trailing initially. Chris Wood scored for Forest in the 49th minute from a free-kick. However, Noni Madueke equalised for Chelsea just eight minutes later. This result adds to Forest's impressive away record, having also beaten Liverpool 1-0 earlier this season.
Despite the draw, Maresca felt Chelsea should have secured victory. He told BBC MOTD2, "I think we deserved to win. They are a very good team, and we knew they would defend well." He praised his team's patience and ability to create chances. Chelsea had an expected goals (xG) total of 2.27 compared to Forest's 0.85 and controlled possession with 66.5% of the ball.

Nottingham Forest has excelled on the road this season, remaining unbeaten in their away matches. Their manager, Nuno Espirito Santo, highlighted their strong performance away from home but acknowledged issues at their home ground, City Ground. "We need to assess why we aren’t getting results at the City Ground," he stated.
The match was intense towards the end, with both teams creating opportunities. Robert Sanchez made crucial saves for Chelsea against Neco Williams and Jota Silva. Meanwhile, Matz Sels denied Cole Palmer and Christopher Nkunku at the other end. The game saw James Ward-Prowse sent off for Forest, leaving them with ten men for the final 25 minutes.
Chelsea has struggled at home this season despite winning all their away games in the Premier League. They have only one home victory alongside two draws and a loss. When asked about concerns over their home form, Maresca dismissed any worries by comparing it to their performance against Crystal Palace where they also created many chances.
Nuno Espirito Santo praised his team's resilience after playing with ten men for a significant portion of the match. "The full game was a very good game with both teams trying," he said. He emphasised their strategy of blocking the middle and handling one-on-one situations effectively.
Both managers acknowledged areas needing improvement but remained optimistic about future performances. Chelsea aims to improve their home form while Nottingham Forest seeks consistency at City Ground.
