Chelsea Manager Enzo Maresca Asserts Team Does Not Miss Joao Felix After FA Cup Defeat

After Chelsea's FA Cup defeat to Brighton, Enzo Maresca expressed confidence that the team does not miss Joao Felix, who recently joined Milan. He discussed player injuries and the need for the team to adapt without key players.

Enzo Maresca expressed that Chelsea does not feel the absence of Joao Felix after their 2-1 FA Cup loss to Brighton. Joao Felix transferred to Milan on deadline day, having played only 12 Premier League matches for Chelsea this season. The Portuguese forward scored eight goals in 22 appearances across all competitions for the Blues, with four goals in five Europa Conference League games.

Maresca gave Christopher Nkunku a rare start against Brighton, as Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu were sidelined due to injuries. Nkunku struggled during the match, failing to take any shots. This led to questions about Maresca's decision to let Joao Felix leave the club. "I don't think we miss Joao. He's happy there [Milan] and we're happy that he's happy," Maresca stated.

Maresca: Chelsea Do Not Miss Joao Felix

Chelsea faced two injuries on the final day of the transfer window, which complicated their situation. Maresca mentioned that Nico Jackson might return soon. He also reflected on how playing without certain players can highlight their significance to the team.

Joao Felix made an impressive debut for Milan, scoring in their Coppa Italia victory over Roma. He became the first Milan player since Alvaro Morata last August to score on his debut appearance. Meanwhile, Chelsea has won only three out of their last ten matches across all competitions (D3 L4), a stark contrast to their previous eight-game winning streak.

Chelsea is set to face Fabian Hurzeler's side at Amex Stadium next Friday in a Premier League match. They aim to redeem themselves after their FA Cup defeat. The team hopes for better results as they continue navigating challenges from recent injuries and player transfers.
