Chelsea Seeks Europa Conference League Victory To Prove They Are Back Under Enzo Maresca

Enzo Maresca asserts that winning the Europa Conference League would mark Chelsea's resurgence. With a strong lead against Djurgarden, the team aims for silverware and Champions League qualification.

Chelsea's manager, Enzo Maresca, emphasised the significance of winning the Europa Conference League as a testament to Chelsea's resurgence. Ahead of their semi-final second leg against Djurgarden, Maresca highlighted the importance of securing silverware this season. Chelsea have been dominant in the competition, winning 10 out of 11 matches, and they hold a strong 4-1 lead from the first leg in Sweden.

After defeating Liverpool 3-1 last weekend, Chelsea are still in the race for a Champions League spot through their current fifth-place league standing. While this remains their primary goal, they also aim to make history by becoming the first club to win all three major European competitions. This would add to their previous successes in the Champions League and Europa League.

Chelsea Eyes Europa Conference League Success

Maresca expressed his desire for Chelsea to end the season with a trophy, stating that it would signify the club's return to form. He mentioned that Marc Guiu, who has scored six goals this season, might be included in the squad after recovering from a hamstring injury. "It's very important for us," Maresca said during a press conference.

The manager stressed that participating in and winning the Conference League is crucial for Chelsea. "Winning a trophy is a statement," he noted. "If we play in the Conference [League], it's because it's where we are. [And] if you play in the Conference [League], the only trophy you can win is the Conference [League]. I think it's a good starting point."

Chelsea's journey through this tournament has been impressive, with expectations high for them to reach the final. The team hopes to make their advantage count when they face Djurgarden at Stamford Bridge on Thursday. Securing victory would not only bring them closer to lifting another European trophy but also reinforce their status as one of Europe's elite clubs.

As Chelsea prepare for this crucial match, fans and players alike are eager to see if they can continue their successful run and add another accolade to their storied history. The potential triumph would mark an important milestone under Maresca's leadership and set a positive tone for future campaigns.
