Chelsea's Enzo Maresca Emphasises Step-by-Step Approach In Europa Conference League Success

Enzo Maresca discusses Chelsea's strategic approach in the Europa Conference League, focusing on their perfect group stage performance and upcoming match against Shamrock Rovers. He stresses the importance of treating each game seriously to maintain success.

Chelsea are preparing to conclude their Europa Conference League group stage with a match against Shamrock Rovers. The team has already secured a spot in the last 16, having won all five of their previous games. Chelsea have been dominant, scoring 21 goals and conceding only four in the competition. They have also won their last seven matches across all competitions.

Enzo Maresca emphasises taking each game seriously, warning against complacency despite Chelsea being favourites to win the tournament. "We try to approach every game in the same way: to do our best and win the game," said Maresca. He acknowledges that every team has strengths and weaknesses, making each match challenging.

Maresca Highlights Methodical Approach for Chelsea

Maresca has studied Shamrock Rovers closely, noting their solid defensive strategy and ability to play directly against opponents. "I watched four or five [Shamrock] games, and they are a good team," he stated. He believes that Chelsea's performance will determine the difficulty of the upcoming match.

Maresca prefers a step-by-step approach, focusing first on advancing through the group stage. "The main target was the group stage, now it's almost there," he mentioned. After securing this goal, they will reassess their objectives for future rounds.

The Opta supercomputer gives Chelsea a 91.1% chance of winning against Shamrock Rovers. Despite this high probability, Maresca insists on maintaining focus and effort in every game to ensure victory.

Josh Acheampong's New Contract

In other news, Josh Acheampong extended his contract with Chelsea until 2029. The young player made his full debut in a recent 3-1 win over Astana in the Conference League, where he impressed by making four tackles—the most by any Chelsea player in that match.

Maresca expressed his satisfaction with Acheampong's development: "I am very, very happy. With Josh, it has been quite clear... within two or three days, he really impressed me." The club is confident in Acheampong's potential and sees him as a valuable asset for the future.

Chelsea's journey in the Europa Conference League continues with optimism and determination as they aim for further success while nurturing promising talents like Acheampong.
