Enzo Maresca has highlighted Chelsea's primary objective of offloading players as the transfer window nears its end. The Blues have already made 12 signings, making them the Premier League's top spenders. Recently, they signed goalkeeper Mike Penders from Genk for a reported £20 million on an eight-year contract.
Chelsea currently have over 40 players in their squad. Among these, England internationals Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell are part of a group of 15 training separately from the first team. The club aims to sell players to comply with the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules.

Maresca stated on the club website, "The target is to solve the economic problem in terms of selling players. From there, we try to do our best and see where we arrive." He emphasized that improving players is their current focus rather than competing for major titles.
Penders, who has only made two senior appearances for Genk last month, will spend the rest of the season on loan with the Belgian side. Despite his limited experience, Chelsea secured him on a long-term deal starting next summer.
Meanwhile, Kepa Arrizabalaga is expected to be the next player to leave Chelsea. He is set for a medical at Bournemouth ahead of a potential season-long loan move.
Despite their focus on selling players, Chelsea continue to be linked with new signings. Reports suggest that Jadon Sancho and Ivan Toney are among those being considered by the London club.
Maresca added, "I want to see my team play the way we want to play and compete every game. I want to see on the ball a clear idea of what they want, and off the ball, a very aggressive team."
The club's strategy appears clear: balance financial stability while enhancing team performance game by game. This approach aims to ensure compliance with league regulations while maintaining competitive standards.
