London, July 30: Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has insisted his new star signing Alvaro Morata has to work harder to improve his gameplay after he made a low key start in the pre-season friendly against Inter Milan yesterday (July 29).

The Spanish international recently joined the Blues in a club-record £70million transfer from Real Madrid and appeared for the second time in the Chelsea shirt.

Earlier in the week, Morata came off the bench against their match against Bayern Munich. The Chelsea number nine made a quick impact in the game and assisted the second Chelsea goal as the Blues suffered a 3-2 defeat.
This time Conte decided to start him from the start and placed him in the left wing position in the 3-4-3 system. However, the 24-year-old struggled to make an impression this time and for the consecutive second time, Chelsea faced a 2-1 defeat against Italian giant Inter Milan.
After the match, the Italian boss sounded critical of the former Juventus attacker and claimed Morata has to work on fitness more to gel well enough with his system.
"Morata is having training with us and for sure he has to improve a lot his physical condition to go quickly to the idea of our football," said Conte.
"But he is working very well and today he tried to do his best but for sure he has to improve," he added.
Chelsea's Pre-season tour in Asia has been a mixed event as the Blues have won only once and suffered defeat twice. However, the Chelsea manager has claimed that tiredness has caused such results and he realizes the pressure he is managing under.
"I think that we played against two strong teams, Bayern and Inter, in a period that is an important period where we are working very hard," Conte said.
"To play three games with the same players, they are tired, very tired, because we played three games with the same players.
"We know it will be difficult in the new season. Two years ago the team ended the league in 10th place and we want to try to avoid this. Two coaches (Mourinho and Carlo Ancelotti) were sacked after they won the league so for sure I want to avoid it.
"We are working very hard and I hope to find the best solution in the future. We have a lot of young players and it is necessary to try to improve them."
