This new contract is an improvement upon the terms of the three-year deal Conte signed when he joined Chelsea meaning it will see him at the Stamford Bridge club at least 2018-19.

"I am very happy to have signed a new contract," said the Italian.

"We worked extremely hard in our first year to achieve something amazing, which I am very proud of. Now we must work even harder to stay at the top."

"The Chelsea fans have given me so much support since I arrived here one year ago and it is important we continue to succeed together," added Conte who is now in China and Singapore for pre-season games against Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan.

Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia also spoke about after the contract extension and suggested that the Italian is the ideal man to lead Chelsea to further success as they plan for a return to the Champions League.

"Antonio achieved incredible success last season, adapting to English football very quickly and leading us to the Premier League title," he said.

"This new contract reflects our belief that he can continue to deliver results both domestically and as we return to European competition in the Champions League."

Conte has already started to bolster his squad for the upcoming season with the signing of Germany defender Antonio Rudiger from Roma and midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco and is now ready to launch a bid to have the service of Bundesliga top-scorer Pierre Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund.
