Chelsea Manager Enzo Maresca Regrets Joao Felix's Limited Premier League Opportunities

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has expressed regret over Joao Felix's limited game time in the Premier League. With a large squad, balancing player involvement remains a challenge as Chelsea aims to maintain their strong season performance.

Chelsea's manager, Enzo Maresca, has acknowledged the challenge of keeping all his players content as they prepare to face Leicester on Saturday. The Blues began the season with a squad of 43 players, including 10 new summer signings. This has resulted in limited playing time for some senior members like Joao Felix, who hasn't started a Premier League match since his permanent move.

Maresca expressed regret over not being able to give everyone enough game time despite Chelsea's strong start, currently sitting third after 11 matches. "I feel a shame for Joao and I would like to give him more minutes in the Premier League but we need defensive balance and we cannot play with Joao, Cole [Palmer], Christo [Nkunku]," he said. "I'd like to put all of them on the pitch but then you need to defend, and you need the right balance."

Maresca Regrets Felix's Lack of Game Time

Meanwhile, Leicester's manager Steve Cooper faces his own challenges following a 3-0 loss at Manchester United before the international break. He will be without key player Ricardo Pereira for four months due to a hamstring injury. "It's a real blow for everybody, and especially him. We'll all be with him now in his recovery," Cooper told BBC Sport.

Leicester have struggled defensively this season, managing just one clean sheet in 11 league games. Cooper is aware of these issues and stated, "We're not going to hide away from the chances and goals we're conceding, and we'll keep showing intent to improve that." The team needs to address these defensive lapses if they are to improve their standing.

In terms of individual performances, Jamie Vardy remains a key player for Leicester despite being 37 years old. He leads their scoring charts with four goals in the Premier League this season. Vardy has scored from 12 shots on goal, boasting a conversion rate of 33.33%.

Key Players: Palmer and Vardy

Cole Palmer has been impressive for Chelsea this season, ranking fifth among Premier League top scorers with seven goals. He also ranks equal-second for goal involvements with five assists alongside his goals. Palmer has had at least three shots in five of his last six league games and ranks fourth for total shots in the Premier League with 36.

Match Prediction: Chelsea Favoured

Chelsea managed a 1-1 draw against Arsenal before the international break, maintaining their third position in the table, four points behind Manchester City. This result means Chelsea have lost only once in their last ten league games (W5 D4), that defeat coming against Liverpool in October.

The Blues have been successful against Leicester recently, losing just one of their last seven away encounters (W4 D2) and winning four of their last five meetings overall. In contrast, Leicester are winless in their last 13 Premier League games against teams starting the day in the top four (D3 L10) and have suffered three defeats in their last four matches across all competitions (D1).

The probability of Chelsea winning stands at 59.5%, while Leicester's chances are at 19%, with a draw predicted at 21.6%. These statistics highlight Chelsea's strong position going into this match.
